I would not waste my money on that instead invest it in the stock market, there are some excellent stock share prices right now.

All I know is that if I had $6k I would be purchasing Sony Super MUTEKI - HTDDW8500 in a heartbeat.
It's 7.4 channel with 2095W total power output. Yum.

I would suggest either the Yamaha RXV 765 on up in model numbers, depending on what you would like to process for Video, i.e. HDMI etc. Are the speakers you looking for in wall, on wall or bookshelf.

TV: 50" plasma Panasonic TC-P50V10. $2,250http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-TCP50V10…
Receiver: You don't need too much here. Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon and Pioneer give you plenty of options at all price points. I'm an Onkyo man, so I'd go with the TX-SR806. $850http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR806-Cha…
Blu-ray player: Either the PS3 or the Samsung 3600. If you play SACD or DVD-A music then the Oppo 83 may be what you want, but it's too expensive if all you're doing is watching movies. $400http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BD-P3600-1…
Speakers: I like Polk because they're a good value, but if I had cash on hand I'd have to seriously consider a set of Paradigm or B&W surround sound speakers. They're both gorgeous. The B&W 684 fronts are around $1,000/pair. The B&W HTM62 center speaker is around $400 and the B&W 686s ($500 or so) are good surrounds.http://www.listenup.com/B%26W+684-p-684-…http://www.listenup.com/B%26W+HTM62-p-HT…http://www.listenup.com/B%26W+686-p-686-…
Sub prices are all over the place. You can get a very good sub from Elemental Designs (A2-300) for $350 if you're looking for a great budget sub. If you want something that looks a little nicer check out the VTF-3 MK3 from Hsu. It ranges from $700-$800.http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info…http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-…
Get all your HDMI cables, speaker wire, sub cable and banana plugs from Monoprice.com or Blue Jeans Cable. You can get all that for under $100. You'll also want to pick up a solid power strip/surge protector. The APC H-15 is a good model that will cost you about $200. Don't forget about calibrating that TV. Do it yourself with a disc (DVE HD) or hire an ISF calibrator. That should just about take care of you.
Good luck.
