you can connect the tv audio output to the component audio input. if its a older unit you will have to use a seperate splitter or a vcr to get the audio to your amp.
the last question you want the sound only from the tv, turn off the system only.

It depends how you want it hooked up. I'm assuming you have a cable box. If so you would use a toslink cable to connect the box to the reciever using the toslink cable. If you don't have a cable box you would use the same toslink cable and connect it from your TV to the reciever. Now, if you don't have a toslink cable the other option is to look behind your TV and see if there is are outputs for sound. It should say "output" and you will see a red and white plug in. You have to get regular composite cables which are usually the same color as those I mentioned and connect the TV to the imput in back of your reciever. I'm sure your reciever will have labels in the back as to where you can plug these in. It should say something like "Video 1" or "Video 2" or even "TV". Choose the one you want to use. Once you plug them in turn on your reciever and pick the appropriate button on the front. It should work. The only thing is if you use the composite cables you won't get 5.1 Dolby Digital; only Dolby ProLogic. Only the toslink carries 5.1 Dolby Digital. You didn't mention if you had an HDTV; if so disregard the info about the toslink and just use the Composite cable instructions if you have a regular TV. Also, when you use the reciever make sure you turn off the TV speakers as they will get an echo effect. It will not sound right.
