The thing is that your surround sound needs to HDMI in and output. Basically Xbox HDMI to Surround -Surround HDMI to TV. If your surround does not have an in and output try your old configuration using HDMI to the TV but I don't know if xbox can simultaneously send audio via HDMI and analog. good luck You should for sure use HDMI.
